Stencil Project

My stencil project was okay. I did not like the outlines of her face, but other than that I liked how her eyes and facial features turned out. When I went on the computer I originally had a different picture but I could not get the eyes to turn out very well so I went to a different picture. When we blew it up on the projector and traced it I slightly modified it so we wouldn't use as many colors. I also had to fix her eyes to make them so they would come out just right. Cutting and painting was very succesful until I added the sides of her face, I realized that they were slightly off. Overall I really liked the work on my stencil project. I throughly enjoyed creating art using spray paint.

Contour Shoe Drawing

My contour shoe drawing was not my best work. My porportion was off and I had sloppy lines. But the challange did help me when I was drawing other objects later beacuse I learned from my mistakes. Now i pay more attention to the placement and how large it is compared to other parts of my drawings. Some of my other contour drawings were better because they were not as complex as this boot. I greatful for this experience to help me grow and develop as an artist.

Mermaid Skeleton

For my mermaid skeleton I used a human bone structure for the top half, but once I got to the hips I had to adjust her body to fit a mermaid. I used all the bones that you would see on a human from the hips up. From the hips below I replicated a fish's tail, continuing the spine down to the fins. In the mermaid cartoon her head and eyes were significantly larger than the rest of her body. So in the skeleton I made the eye sockets look like they were caved in by using multiple circles. I really liked how my skeleton turned out for one of my first drawings in art.

iPad Drawing

Explain the similarities and differences between using the oil pastels in the classroom and the Layers Pro app on iPad in creating your value studies. Discuss your accomplishments and what you learned from the experience. How is technology useful and important in the Art?
When drawing the shapes with the oil pastels it is harder to blend the shapes just right. You want to have the light source in the same spot on all the shapes and put the shadows in the right positions. When using the iPad it is alot easier because if you mess up you can just erase. You can also use the blending tools provided by the app. I leardned that technology makes art easier and more dificult sometimes. Once you have created a picture using paint, you can always go back and adjust things with technology.
